We've noticed that several users recently have had questions and concerns regarding how the LinkPower 3 connects to AWS and how we manage device data and privacy. To keep everything completely transparent, we'd like to walk you through our system and security practices in detail.
Wi-Fi and Data Reporting
Offline by default: Devices ship with Wi-Fi disabled out of the box and are not connected to the AWS IoT platform. You can use the device strictly via Bluetooth if you prefer.
Explicit opt-in: The device will only upload business data to the cloud if you manually configure Wi-Fi, turn it on, and grant permission to connect to AWS.
What gets uploaded: Device model, real-time battery status, charge/discharge metrics, and environmental sensor data (such as temperature and humidity).
No location tracking: The device has zero positioning/GPS hardware and will never upload location data.
User Authentication & Account Data
Standard OAuth 2.0: Our app's login interface uses standard Amazon Amplify components supporting OAuth 2.0. You can log in using your existing Amazon, Google, or Apple accounts, or create a separate AWS account.
Minimal data access: Once logged in, we only receive a User ID and Email Address from the authentication platform. This data is strictly used for binding your device and routing your data properly.
Anonymous User IDs: User IDs are generated directly by Amazon and contain no personal information. They typically look like this:
- 51bb6520-30c1-70f0-ab08-12dd546e6fa7
- signinwithapple_000886.c6be6726cf964c6f892bb3cd1b4fbdfd.2028

Our Privacy Commitment
AWS Data Protection: Outside of the essential operational data mentioned above, all other private data is encrypted and kept strictly confidential on the AWS platform. As the device manufacturer/service provider, we have no backend access to it.
Legitimate Redirects: Our Web App is pre-registered on AWS. When you tap "Sign in with Amazon/Google/Apple," you are redirected to that platform's official authorization page. You will see a clear prompt stating that the "PWA-LP3" app is requesting access to your email address, which you can choose to authorize.
We promise that we will never stealthily collect or harvest your unauthorized personal data. Transparency and compliance are our top priorities.
